Wes, who runs Capital Drums

One-person shop · Est. 2017

Hi, I’m Wes. You’re talking to me, not a store.

I’ve been playing drums for over twenty years and buying and selling gear for most of them. Most of what’s on this site cycled in and out of my own collection first — I bought it because I wanted to play it, and I’m selling it because something else came along.

That’s the whole business model. There’s no warehouse and no staff. Every piece gets set up, tuned, played for a week or two, photographed as it actually is, and written up by me. If something’s wrong with it, it’s in the listing — I’d rather lose the sale than have you open a box and find a crack I didn’t mention.

I’ve sold on Reverb, eBay and Marketplace since 2017 and I’m highly rated on all of them. This site exists so everything lives in one place, with the write-ups I’d want to read if I were the one buying.

If you’re within driving distance, come play it first. Sticks and a throne are here.

If you’re local, book a time and try anything before committing. Everyone else — I ship tracked and insured, packed properly, and I’ll send photos of the packing if you want them.

How I grade

Every piece gets a grade, and the notes to back it up.

The grade is my honest read after playing it. A plus or minus means it sits just above or below the band. Whatever the grade, the listing spells out exactly what is wrong with it.

  • A Near mint. Ready to gig tonight.
  • B Honest wear, everything works.
  • C Rough but playable. Priced for it.
  • Project Needs work, and I’ll tell you what.

What buyers say

Frank

Jun 2026

Best used-gear experience I’ve had. Kind, patient, and he even talked me through my acoustic-to-electric conversion.

Ben

May 2026

The snare had a hairline dent he’d photographed and priced for. Nobody does that.

Let me play the kit for twenty minutes before I decided. Described exactly as listed, down to the scuffs.
